AMERICA SERVES founder Linda Falcão is a civil rights attorney and mother of three who currently resides in suburban Philadelphia with her husband.  Her six years of involvement in this club and experience in guiding and mentoring these students inspired her to develop the AMERICA SERVES student curriculum journal.  It is Linda’s intention to help other high school students across the world participate in this program to alleviate suffering globally. Linda has a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania, a BS.Econ. from the Wharton School of Business, and attended Harvard and Penn Law Schools.

Linda is pictured above with Greg Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute, beneficiary of a previous educational fundraiser.  CAI’s mission is to promote and provide community-based education, especially for girls, in remote mountain regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.  CAI was founded in 1996 by Greg after local villagers from Korphe, Pakistan nursed him back to health following a failed attempt to climb K2.  He explains why he started CAI in his book, “Three Cups of Tea:  One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time,” which has been on the New York Times’ bestseller list for more than eight months since its release.
